This quote is a remark made by Norman Bates in Alfred Hitchcock's movie "Psycho.” Norman is the son of a couple who lives in a trailer park and who have a very unhealthy relationship. Not only did they have a very dark relationship, but they also had a secret. Their hidden love for one another had them marry despite being from different social classes. When it came to their son, they were so afraid that he would turn out like his mother that they did everything in their power to keep him from ever knowing she was what he thought she was. In fact, at one point, Norman has an imaginary friend (his mother) but he never sees her, let alone talks to her.
